Yesterday my friend and I dropped by at KFC outlet to catch a bite while waiting for our orders.
The historic art pieces of Colonel Sanders, founder of the KFC brand hung on the walls caught my eyes and inspired me to revisit his story.
If you’re overwhelmed by rejection or discouraged by setbacks, may this story of Colonel Harland Sanders encourage you this day.
He was Fatherless at 6years, dropped out of school in 7th grade.
Sanders was fired from multiple jobs, set back by the Great Depression, ruined his legal career, yet he still created one of the largest fast food chains in the world.
At age 40 Sanders began selling chicken dishes in a service station. His recipe was rejected 1,009 times before it became accepted.
Sander’s “secret recipe” was then coined “Kentucky Fried Chicken”, and quickly became a hit.
However, the booming restaurant was crippled after a few years. But he kept striving and never gave up.
After years of failures and misfortunes, Sanders finally hit it big.
KFC expanded internationally but for some reason, he eventually sold the company for two million dollars ($15.3 million today).
At age 90, when Sanders passed away, there were around 6,000 KFC locations in 48 countries. By 2013, there were an estimated 18,000 KFC locations in 118 countries. WOW
(Hmmm… things so called massive failures can achieve though 
)
Even today, Sanders remains central in KFC’s branding and his face still appears in their logo. His goatee, white suit and western string tie continue to symbolize delicious country fried chicken all over the world.
Sanders had it all, he started what would be his hit at age 40, amidst challenges yet he wouldn’t let anything or anyone defeat him.
The Never give up spirit pushed him, he remained ever determined to survive.
